Cafecito on Park opened with the kind of energy that makes a new neighborhood location feel like a celebration. Balloons framed the entrance, a prize wheel sat outside and the South Bay favorite officially had a new Downtown home.

The baristas made the visit even more memorable. They were playful, welcoming and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there, which gave the new location the easy neighborhood energy we love finding in a coffee shop.

We started with the churro latte and the mazapán latte with cold foam. Both drinks turn familiar Mexican dessert flavors into an easy coffee date decision, especially if you prefer sweeter specialty drinks over a plain latte.

Cafecito brings South Bay flavor into Downtown without losing the feeling of a neighborhood coffee shop.

The opening was exciting because this was not a new concept appearing from nowhere. It was a local business growing beyond the community where it began and becoming easier to reach for people who live, work or explore Downtown.

The Park Boulevard location sits near San Diego City College and the trolley station. That makes it a practical morning stop before class, work or a day Downtown, while the signature menu gives visitors something more memorable than an ordinary coffee order.

BEHIND THE STOP

A South Bay coffee story grows Downtown

Cafecito describes itself as a husband and wife owned coffee company built around espresso, specialty drinks and unique Hispanic flavors. Before opening on Park Boulevard, the team said it had been operating out of only about 150 square feet at Cafecito on Palm in South San Diego.

Expanding beyond the South Bay had been a goal for the business. Cafecito on Park gave the team a larger home near City College Station while carrying forward the welcoming atmosphere, culturally inspired drinks and local connections that shaped the original shop.

WHAT WE TRIED

Start with the flavor that sounds most like you.

OUR ORDER

Mazapán Latte with Cold Foam

Nutty, sweet and finished with cold foam. Choose this one when you want the drink that feels most different from a standard coffee shop order.

OUR MOVE

Order Both and Compare

The two drinks give you completely different flavors, which makes them fun to split on a coffee date instead of trying to choose only one.

What we tried: The churro latte and the mazapán latte with cold foam.
