I’d order the Crema de la Creme again. That was my takeaway from Crema Coffee in Sherman Oaks, even though the drink disappeared a little faster than I wanted it to.
The coffee had a rich, bold flavor, with a velvety espresso cold foam that made the texture part of the experience. It felt like a coffee treat worth paying attention to instead of something to sip absentmindedly.
The surprise was the portion. For the price, I had pictured a bigger coffee. That did not change how much I enjoyed it, but it did change how I thought about the value. If your ideal order is a large drink to carry around all morning, that is useful to know before choosing this one.
I wanted more of it. That was both the compliment and the complaint.
I left happy with the flavor and wishing I had a few more sips. Next time, I’d go in knowing exactly what I was ordering: a smaller specialty drink that earns its place through the coffee and the cream top.
The cream top is part of the story.
The Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association highlighted Crema’s signature drinks topped with velvety cream in its neighborhood newsletter. The topping is part of the café’s specialty drink approach, rather than just a finishing detail on my order.
What makes it differentWhat I ordered at Crema
This visit was about one drink. Here is the order behind my review.
Crema de la Creme
Rich cold brew with velvety espresso cold foam, as featured in my visit. The bold coffee flavor stood out, and I would get it again. The small serving was the tradeoff.
The details worth knowing
Ask about the serving
If cup size matters to you, ask before ordering. My drink was smaller than I expected, so it helps to know what you are getting.
