Goldchild feels more like a listening lounge than a typical Downtown coffee shop, and that is exactly why the experience sticks with us. We brought the pups inside, settled into the music and immediately felt welcomed.
Lana ordered the Morning in Stockholm iced with oat milk. The cardamom flavor was there, but she still prefers this one hot. The warmth brings out more of the spice and makes the drink feel more complete.
Kyle tried the Secret Handshake. It was not bad, but it did not meet his personal latte standards and would not be his order next time.
One drink missed. The Goldchild experience did not.

A coffee shop built around sound and fika
Goldchild calls this space its Listening Lab. Coffee is roasted inside the café with a light roast approach, while hip hop, R&B, soul and Motown play on vinyl. Cofounder Ela Mosquera grew up in Sweden with fika, the ritual of pausing for coffee and something sweet. Cofounder Jeff Rambo later became the 2025 U.S. AeroPress Champion.

Morning in Stockholm
I ordered it iced with oat milk. I love the cardamom, but I would go back to ordering it hot so the spice comes through more.
Secret Handshake
This one was not Kyle’s favorite and would not be a repeat. Next time he would use the visit to try something completely different.
Cardamom Bun
We skipped pastries this time, but this is Lana’s proven Goldchild favorite. It is made in house and currently listed at $8.
What we would order again: A hot Morning in Stockholm with a cardamom bun. Kyle would skip the Secret Handshake and explore the menu.

Expect expressive coffee
Goldchild roasts light to highlight the coffee’s natural origin flavors, so the experience is more coffee led than syrup led.
Ask about the pups
Our dogs were welcomed inside and the team made us feel completely comfortable. Check the current policy if bringing a dog is essential to your plan.
