A coffee shop has to be doing something right when you are still thinking about the drinks hours later. Home Away Coffee gave us that kind of stop during our Denver trip. Lana ordered the blueberry muffin latte hot, while the iced carrot cake latte came topped with cream cheese cold foam.

The carrot cake latte paired warm spice with a rich cream cheese cold foam. The cold foam was the star. It brought the tangy, creamy flavor that made the latte feel specific rather than like another sweet seasonal coffee.

It genuinely tasted like carrot cake in coffee form.

What made us want to stay was the space itself. Home Away felt comfortable, calm and true to its name. It was the kind of coffee shop where a quick stop could easily turn into a slower morning together.

ABOUT THE CAFÉ

A neighborhood coffee shop built around comfort.

Home Away Coffee describes itself as a place where community, comfort and quality come together. The café sits in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood and keeps the menu connected to other Colorado businesses.

The shop serves locally roasted beans from Middle State Coffee, pastries from Reunion Bakery and breakfast burritos from Bonfire Burritos. That local lineup gives visitors more than a specialty drink while keeping the experience rooted in Denver.

WHAT WE ORDERED

Two seasonal lattes made the stop.

KYLE’S ORDER

Iced carrot cake latte

Warm carrot cake spice and coffee came topped with cream cheese cold foam. That rich, slightly tangy foam was the part that made the drink memorable.

ALSO AVAILABLE

Reunion Bakery pastries

The café serves pastries from the Denver bakery. We did not try one on this visit, but they give the menu an easy coffee date pairing.

FOR BREAKFAST

Bonfire Burritos

Breakfast burritos from the Golden, Colorado favorite are also available if you want something more substantial with your coffee.

Our recommendation: Check the seasonal menu before visiting. The hot blueberry muffin latte is the cozy choice, while the iced carrot cake latte stands out for its cream cheese cold foam.
