We expected the food to lead the night. Instead, the hospitality stood out first. Parkhouse has the kind of longtime team that makes a restaurant feel personal, and the converted home made dinner feel more like being welcomed into someone’s favorite room.
Lana started with a Cabernet, while Kyle ordered the Espresso Martini. Then came the Beef Filet Tips with cherry heirloom tomatoes and house made chimichurri. That chimichurri was the moment. It was bright, flavorful and not overly oily. We were eating it by the spoonful.
We shared the Australian Lamb Stuffed Portobello and the herb crusted chicken served during our visit. The lamb was wonderful, both mains tasted fresh and full of flavor, and we left wanting to see what else this kitchen could do.
Come for a cozy date night. Save room for the bread pudding.
The House Made Bread Pudding arrived with pistachio chocolate chip ice cream during our visit and completely earned its reputation. We would order the filet tips again without hesitation, but we would also use our next dinner to explore more of the menu.
Part of University Heights since 1996
The restaurant fills a former home with a garden patio, front living room and hearth room. Its longtime team makes the experience feel genuinely close knit.
The chimichurri changed the whole night.
Lana had the Cabernet. Kyle had the Espresso Martini, currently listed at $16. We shared every food item so we could try more of the dinner menu.
Beef Filet Tips
Tender filet tips with cherry heirloom tomatoes and house made chimichurri. We would order this again for the sauce alone.
Australian Lamb Stuffed Portobello
Seasoned lamb, feta, rice pilaf and sautéed spinach. Wonderful, flavorful and one of the strongest parts of dinner.
Herb Crusted Chicken
Our visit day version came with risotto. It tasted fresh and flavorful. The current menu preparation may differ.
House Made Bread Pudding
Currently $12. The flavor changes, and ours came with pistachio chocolate chip ice cream.
Lana’s order and reaction: Cabernet, followed by the shared dinner. The lamb was wonderful, and the chimichurri was good enough to eat by the spoonful.
Kyle’s order and reaction: Espresso Martini, followed by the shared dinner. He agreed that the fresh flavors and warm service made this much more than an ordinary meal.
What we would order again: The Beef Filet Tips and House Made Bread Pudding.
What we would try next: New dinner dishes, plus breakfast. The Churro Pancake and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes already have our attention.
