We visited Puttery right after the Minnesota State Fair, when neither of us had much social energy left. The space was quiet during our visit, the vibe felt polished without being stuffy and the courses were put together beautifully.

We played the Art Museum and Library courses. The winner is technically still up for debate. Unofficially, Kyle smashed Lana.

Everything felt easy because the scoring was touchscreen and virtual. We never had to carry a pencil or keep track on paper, and our game automatically appeared at the correct hole. If we walked to the wrong one, the missing game screen told us immediately.

Stylish, easy to play and genuinely fun. This was the low pressure date night our tired brains needed.

Our one frustration was where the scoring screen sat. It was positioned at the beginning of each course, so after finishing a hole we had to walk back to enter the score. It did not ruin the experience, but a screen near the end of each hole would make the flow much smoother.

BEHIND THE STOP

Mini golf reimagined as a night out

Puttery was built to turn mini golf into an immersive social experience. Each course has nine holes and is designed as its own world, while digital scoring, craft cocktails and a scratch kitchen make the visit feel more like a full night out than traditional mini golf.

WHAT TO PLAY

Art, books and friendly competition

Puttery Minneapolis has three nine hole courses. We played two of them and would play both again.

Another creative course that made the experience feel like more than basic mini golf.

Lana’s take: She loved the vibe, the thoughtful layout and how relaxing the quiet room felt after a very full day.

Kyle’s take: He loved the competition and, depending on who tells the story, won by a lot.

Drinks: Kyle ordered a margarita and a High Noon. Lana had water.

HOW IT WORKS

No pencil required

Your game follows you virtually from hole to hole. The touchscreen keeps score, shows whose turn it is and helps confirm that your group is at the correct hole. It made the whole experience easy to follow.
