Little Italy knows how to set the scene for a double date. Queenstown Public House feels like someone turned a cozy cottage into a restaurant, and that made it an easy place to settle in with friends.

We started with onion dip and house made potato chips, plus a large pretzel with cheese. Then the table split in four directions: chicken pot pie for me, hanger steak for Kyle, and steak frites and a habanero fried chicken sandwich for our friends. We also tried the in house sun tea.

The dining area was beautiful, with indoor, outdoor and partially covered seating. There were misters outside, a full bar and sports on the screens. During our visit, Halloween spiderwebs gave the cottage an extra layer of personality.

It felt like dinner at someone’s home, with a whole restaurant menu.

The wonderful service was a big part of why the night worked. Queenstown felt welcoming without being overly formal, so we could enjoy the meal and catch up. The setting made an ordinary dinner out feel like a little occasion.

BEHIND THE STOP

Look up. Those sheep have a story.

Queenstown takes its name from the adventure town in New Zealand. When this historic Little Italy house became a restaurant in 2013, the design carried that Kiwi connection indoors with fluffy sheep suspended above the parlor. The playful details go well beyond the garden.
