Convoy never needs to give me another reason to visit, but Urban Matcha managed to do it anyway. The café feels bright, clean and much roomier than I expected, with comfortable seating that makes it feel like a good place to cowork or stay longer than a quick drink run.

I ordered a double matcha with oat milk and the salted cheese cap. I wanted the matcha strong enough to stand up to the creamy cap, and the best part was the salty finish with fresh salt ground over the top.

I came in loyal to my usual matcha spots. The salted cheese cap made room for a new contender.

The menu goes well beyond a standard latte. I almost ordered the matcha soft serve, and the parfaits, floats, panna cotta and cream puffs made it obvious that one visit barely scratches the surface.

BEHIND THE STOP

Las Vegas matcha lands in Convoy

Urban Matcha started in Las Vegas and opened its first California café in San Diego in 2026. The shop focuses on ceremonial grade Uji matcha sourced from Kyoto. It moved into the former Sizzling House and Noodle space, and the previous owner, Mr. Lin, stayed on as Urban Matcha's general manager.

WHAT I ORDERED

The cheese cap changed the order.

LANA'S ORDER

Double Matcha with Oat Milk

The stronger matcha held its own against the creamy topping without letting the drink turn into dessert.

THE DETAIL

Salted Cheese Cap

The salty cheese cap was the part I kept thinking about. Fresh salt ground over the top gave every sip the contrast I wanted.

NEXT TIME

Matcha Soft Serve

I almost chose it on this visit. With floats, parfaits and Japanese tea desserts on the menu, it is the easiest reason to return.

What I would order again: The double matcha with oat milk, finished with the salted cheese cap.

BEFORE YOU GO

The details worth knowing

01

Bring your laptop

The café is spacious, comfortable and feels coworking-friendly, so this can be more than a grab-and-go matcha stop.

02

Parking is nearby

Urban Matcha sits in a small plaza with its own parking lot. Availability can still depend on how busy the plaza is.

03

Explore past lattes

The menu includes tea, floats, soft serve, parfaits and desserts, plus hojicha and black sesame options.

Ordering tip: If you prefer a stronger matcha flavor, ask about adding extra matcha and adjust the sweetness before choosing your toppings.
