If you are in Huacachina and need a break from the usual tourist food, this is the place I would send you. I ended up eating at Wild Olive three times in two days because it was that good.
The La Campiña salad became my nonnegotiable order every visit: organic lettuce, apples, pecans, avocado, tomato and a vinaigrette I could not stop talking about. I traveled with a group of eight, and everyone genuinely loved what they chose, from the pizzas and fresh pasta to the lasagna.
The desserts disappeared just as quickly. The alfajores are made fresh daily, and after trying the warm brownie with vanilla ice cream on night one, I came back the next night carrying peanut butter to drizzle over it.
I brought peanut butter for the brownie on night two. Zero regrets.
Fernanda remembered my order from the first night, gave genuinely helpful recommendations and made me feel like a regular. Add the front terrace overlooking the lagoon and the peaceful courtyard hidden behind the restaurant, and this became one of my easiest Huacachina recommendations.
Italian comfort food beside the oasis
Wild Olive is both a trattoria and guest house in the heart of Huacachina. The kitchen ferments its pizza dough for 48 hours and makes fresh pasta daily, while the restaurant stretches from a lagoon-facing terrace to a quieter courtyard most people would never notice from the street.
Start with the salad I ordered every time.
My group explored the menu, but these were the things that made me return.
La Campiña Salad
Organic lettuce, apples, pecans, avocado, tomato and vinaigrette. It is currently listed at S/ 32, and I ordered it on every visit.
Pizza, Pasta + Lasagna
Everyone in my group found something they loved. Pizzas currently start at S/ 28, fresh pasta at S/ 35 and lasagna at S/ 40.
Warm Brownie
Served with ice cream or seasonal fruit and currently listed at S/ 25. My peanut butter addition made the second round even better.
Fresh Alfajores
Made fresh daily and gone almost as soon as they reached the table. Do not wait until the end to claim one.
What I would order again: La Campiña salad without hesitation, another round of pasta and pizza for the table, house red wine and the warm brownie.
The drink move: I ordered the house red wine, woke up without a headache and happily ordered it again the next night. A glass is currently listed at S/ 20.
The details worth knowing
Choose your seat
The front terrace overlooks the Huacachina lagoon. For a quieter experience, walk through to the peaceful courtyard tucked behind the restaurant.
It works for a group
My group of eight all found something to enjoy, which made Wild Olive an easy repeat when nobody wanted to compromise on dinner.
Open all day
Wild Olive currently serves daily from 8 AM to 11 PM. Menu prices and hours can change, so check the restaurant’s website before visiting.
