We would go back to Wilma & Frieda, but we would change part of our order. The turkey club and honey mustard bacon gave us a reason to return. The Short Rib Eggs Benedict is something we would leave off the table next time.
Our visit started with the walk upstairs, before sitting down to share a couple of dishes. This was a comfort food stop in downtown Palm Springs, and the homemade feel came through in both the food and the atmosphere.
We chose the Chicken Club and swapped the chicken for oven roasted turkey. That was absolutely the right call for us. It is the detail we would mention to someone asking what we ordered, because the sandwich we tried was our own version of the club.
But the strongest memory from the meal was the honey mustard bacon. With a sandwich and a Benedict to try, it would have been easy for the bacon to become a passing detail. Instead, it completely stole the show and deserves its own place in our review.
We would come back for the turkey club and bacon. The Benedict would not make our next order.
The Short Rib Eggs Benedict gave us another savory dish to share. In our video, you can see the eggs and short rib beneath the sauce and greens, with potatoes alongside. Our caption called it a solid choice, but that does not mean it was a dish we would order again. We would use that part of the meal to try something else next time.
That distinction matters here: we enjoyed the stop and would return to the restaurant, without wanting to repeat every dish. For us, the club with the turkey swap and the honey mustard bacon were the parts to remember.
The bakery is the other reason we want to come back. Our video takes a look through the pastry display, including bars and other baked treats. We had already shared our savory dishes, so the homemade pastries became a plan for another visit rather than something we tasted this time.
The Pop-Tarts are at the top of that next visit list. We want to give the bakery its own moment instead of treating it as an afterthought. Until we try it, we are keeping that separate from the food we can personally review.
Two grandmothers behind the name
Wilma & Frieda is named after the ownersβ grandmothers. Wilma was known for her cat eye glasses, while Frieda could put dinner together for 20 people. The restaurant honors them with comfort food with a twist.
Meet Wilma & Frieda βTwo shared dishes. One standout.
We shared both dishes rather than choosing separate Lana and Kyle orders.
Chicken Club with turkey
We substituted oven roasted turkey for the chicken. That swap was the right call for us, and the club is part of the order we would come back for.
Honey Mustard Bacon
The bacon completely stole the show. This deserves its own card because it was the strongest takeaway from our meal, and something we would want again.
Short Rib Eggs Benedict
We shared it on this visit, but we would not order it again. Returning to Wilma & Frieda does not mean repeating the Benedict.
Next time: The bakery, especially the homemade Pop-Tarts. We have not tasted them yet.

The details worth knowing
Choose the Palm Springs location
This guide is for the downtown Palm Springs restaurant on South Palm Canyon Drive. There is also a separate Palm Desert location on El Paseo.
Make it a daytime stop
The official website currently lists daily hours from 8 AM to 2 PM. Check the current hours before heading over.
Ask about substitutions
Our turkey substitution worked well, but it was a choice from our visit. Ask the team what they can accommodate when you order.
